By Any Means Necessary with EUGENE PURYEAR

By Any Means Necessary connects the political, social and economic movements shaping the world around us. With a sensibility informed by movements from Black Power to #BlackLivesMatter with a dash of Occupy, the show elevates the people and narratives that, while often ignored by corporate media, are driving some of the most important changes in the world.

Host Eugene Puryear cut his teeth as an activist while he studied at Howard University in Washington, DC. There, he became a lead organizer with the anti-war ANSWER Coalition, helping to organize large protests against the Israeli blockade of Gaza and efforts such as the campaign to free the Jena 6.  He also writes for the Party for Socialism and Liberation’s newspaper and journal. As a freshman at Howard in 2005, Puryear was interviewed by the Washington Post as an “activist-in-training” and cited his engagement with fighting gentrification, racism, the US occupation of Iraq, and other issues. In 2014 he was a candidate for the At-Large seat in the DC Council with the DC Statehood Green Party and in the 2008 US presidential election was the PSL’s vice presidential nominee.

By Any Means Necessary is produced at the studios of Radio Sputnik in Washington, DC.
